If you want to become a security guard in Denver, the first step is to earn your Denver security guard license. Many companies will hire you without a license. In fact, a hire letter is required for your guard card application. But you must obtain a new security guard license before your first day on the job. To be eligible, you’ll need to complete at least 16 hours of training with an approved training provider. During this training, you’ll learn about relevant laws, legal use of force, crowd control tactics, and more to become a prepared security guard. Once you earn your license, you’ll need to renew it yearly.

To receive a firearm endorsement, you’ll need to complete an additional 8-hour training program with 3 hours of range time. You’ll also need to demonstrate at least 80% range proficiency. Armed guard training can only be completed by a certified POST or NRA instructor.
