If you want to become a security guard in Denver, the first step is to earn your Denver security guard license. Many companies will hire you without a license. In fact, a hire letter is required for your guard card application. But you must obtain a new security guard license before your first day on the job. To be eligible, you’ll need to complete at least 16 hours of training with an approved training provider. During this training, you’ll learn about relevant laws, legal use of force, crowd control tactics, and more to become a prepared security guard. Once you earn your license, you’ll need to renew it yearly.
With security guard training at Pikes Peak Security, you can learn from the best. We are a veteran-owned business that hires guards with military, law enforcement, or extensive security backgrounds. We put our own staff through 100+ hours of training per year, so we know how to create an effective training program. Plus, we will pair you with an experienced instructor who will teach you everything you need to know to be the best in your field.
If you are applying for a plainclothes or firearm endorsement, you may need to meet additional requirements. To qualify for a Denver security guard license, you must meet the following requirements:
Earning an armed security guard endorsement can make you more desirable to employers and show your dedication to your profession. To receive a firearm endorsement, you’ll need to complete an additional 8-hour training program with 3 hours of range time. You’ll also need to demonstrate at least 80% range proficiency. Armed guard training can only be completed by a certified POST or NRA instructor.
At Pikes Peak Security, we are certified by the NRA and offer a variety of NRA classes, from concealed carry to basic rifle courses. Check our training calendar or contact us to sign up for our next armed guard training.
An eligible security guard training program will cover the basic skills that you need to succeed in this field, but ongoing training is crucial to providing high-quality security services. New security guard training with Pikes Peak Security will cover several topics, such as the power to arrest and the laws that govern private security guards. You’ll also learn how and when to use force appropriately. Additionally, we’ll cover proper communication with your team and law enforcement and teach you how to write reports.
