At Pikes Peak Security, we understand how important it is for every security guard to be properly and fully trained. And as one of the best security guard services in Colorado, we ensure our guards are prepared for any situation. In addition to our Guard Card Training for both Colorado Springs and Denver, we also require and conduct other security guard training that is highly requested in our industry.

American Safety & Health Institute Training

The American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) is a health association that provides certification in CPR, First Aid, and other basic courses. These courses are offered for both civilians and professionals, and they are designed to help people meet regulatory requirements. Proper security guard training includes training for potential medical situations and emergencies. ASHI courses cover:

  • CPR
  • AED
  • First Aid
  • Basic Life Saver

NRA Basics Training

The National Rifle Association (NRA) is an organization that offers multiple types of training. These courses help ensure a security guard is prepared for anything he or she might encounter on the job. The NRA is nationally recognized as the premier standard for firearm training in a safe environment. All of these courses are designed to develop safe, ethical, and responsible shooters, making them an integral part of security guard training.

NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting

Regardless of previous shooting experience, this training course is incredibly valuable. You can receive this type of training as an instructor-led course, and the instructor will work directly with you throughout the entire course. You can also use a self-study or “eLearning” course that can be completed online on your own time. The hands-on portion would be conducted in a classroom and at a shooting range with an instructor.

NRA Basics CCW

This course teaches basic knowledge and skills needed to carry a concealed pistol for personal defense. This course is available for shooters of all skillsets. An NRA-certified instructor will lead you through the course beginning to end, and it will be completed in a classroom and on a shooting range.

NRS Basics Rifle Shooting Course

This course includes both classroom time and time at a range learning to safely and properly shoot rifles. It teaches the basic knowledge and skills needed, and the proper attitude necessary, for the safe use of a rifle. Students learn a wealth of gun knowledge including safe gun handling, rifle parts, ammunition, shooting fundamentals and range guidelines, and more. This course also covers shooting from different positions such as rest, prone, sitting, standing, and kneeling.

NRA Basics Personal Protection In The Home Course

Participants for this course must already be experienced shooters. This course teaches the basics of how to use a handgun for the protection of yourself and your family. It will go over the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary. This course is also used to provide the proper information on law-abiding adults’ rights to self-defense.
